Q&A
What inspired your interest in writing and drawing for children?
Children are curious, playful and open-minded. They love pictures as much as words and they adore stories.

I like to tell stories with pictures and I believe a sense of humor and playfulness are very serious matters. It sounds like a perfect match!

I knew from the start that the stories I wanted to tell were well suited for children.
What challenges have you faced along the path to creating so many wonderful illustrations?
After you publish your first book you have a big challenge-- to grow as an artist and not to repeat yourself. If your book sells well, you might be tempted to do more of the same. It may work, but it's not as exciting as creating new stories and characters.
What are some of your hobbies?
I love cooking a good meal, hiking, practicing yoga when I'm tired or stressed, going sailing with my family and traveling around the world.
I also love museums, bookstores, movies, music concerts and going to the theater.

"Remember you learn a lot from mistakes. Most of the time the first draft is just the beginning of a great piece of work. Perseverance and a bit of stubbornness are good ingredients in order to get things done."
